Damon’s Rally Cap Charity kick-off benefit a home run

More than 160 people came together July 16, 2016 to honor the legacy of Damon Owen and raise funds for cancer patients and their families during Damon’s Rally Cap Charity kick-off benefit. The evening included dinner, a silent auction and a live performance from The Voice contestant Matt Snook. Area businesses and Damon’s Rally Cap supporters donated more than 60 silent auction items, which raised nearly $6,000. Matt Snook even auctioned off his cowboy boots from the battle round of The Voice and a Team Blake jersey from a charity basketball game.

After dinner, founder of Damon’s Rally Cap Charity Amy Owen-Johnson provided a few remarks, explaining how her friends, family and the community offered support when her late husband was battling cancer. She started Damon’s Rally Cap Charity so she could keep Damon’s memory alive and help other families whose lives have been shattered by a cancer diagnosis.

In total, the event generated $8,682, which will go directly to individuals battling cancer.

Thank you to event sponsors, volunteers and attendees. As a result of your generous support, Damon’s Rally Cap Charity can help those suffering from cancer rally with hope.
